Shuping Gao - President

Dr. Shuping GAO was an associate Professor and Director of Lab animal centre, China Medical University in Shenyang before he came to Switzerland in 2000. He got Ph. D. degree in Cell Biology from University of Basel in 2007. After as a Postdoc worked in Human Stem cell Research Lab, Dept of Obstetrics and Genecology, University hospital of Geneva in 2008 and another Postdoc at University Children Hospital of Zürich as a in Lab of Urologic Tissue Engineering and Stem Cell Therapy; Now is working as a research scientist since 2010 in Lab of Surgery Research Department, University Hospital of Zürich and focus on human Fat derived stem cells, bone tissue engineering and Nano-labelling fat stem cells.

Yuqin Hong - Vice President

Mrs. Hong Yuqin was born in Shanghai, China. She graduated from Shanghai Normal University in 1991. At the end of 1994, she came to Switzerland and worked as a translator and secretary at a clinic. Mrs. Hong is also an experienced Chinese teacher with more than ten years of overseas teaching-Chinese experience. She served as a vice president of Chinese Language Teachers Association Switzerland (CLTAS). Her interests are to promote the mother tongue teaching for the overseas Chinese second-generation children, and Chinese language education and intercultural communication and activities in Switzerland.

In the CUZ, she is responsible for CUZ forum management. And she actively organized and/or participated many language and cultural activities between China and Switzerland. In November 2008, she founded CUZ language and culture exchange club. The Club regularly organizes seminars, parties and other activities, which becomes a good platform for the language and cultural exchange between China and Switzerland.

Hong Zhang - Vice President

Hong Zhang was born in North China. In 1999, she graduated with a Master degree in Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, and was honored the Top 10 Students Award. After her studies, she worked as a journalist in the PR department of the Shenyang TV station. In 1999, she came to Switzerland for a doctoral position at the ETH Zürich Turbomachinery laboratory (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). She completed a BSc in Computer Science at ETH Zürich in 2007. During her studies at ETH, Hong worked as a free-lance journalist for the online-newspaper Swissinfo.org and as a part-time technical interpreter for Alstom Power. She started her professional career as a business analyst at Avaloq in Zürich in 2008. After working as salesperson in Bucherer Luzern and Kirchhofer Interlaken, she follows her career path in IT department in an insurance company in December 2011.

In Feburary 2011 she becomes a member in foreign adversary board (Ausländerbeirat Zürich) of Zürich Government for the period of 2011-2014.

In Chinese Union of Zurich (CUZ), she is responsible for sponsoring and act as public relationship manager.

Jane Rüegg Lin - Vice President

Jane Rüegg Lin, born in south China, holds a Bachelor’s degree of Urban Planning from China and a Master’s degree of Architecture from Australia. She has ever worked for 8 years as an architect in three different countries and then ran her own communication company in Switzerland for 3 years. She currently works for Sika Services AG as Head of Marketing Communication for Corporate Business Unit Contractors.

Jane Lin joined the executive committee in Chinese Union of Zurich (CUZ) in 2009, and she was elected as the vice president in 2011.

 
Xing Chen - Secretary General

Xing Chen, born in Shenyang, is currently a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zürich) since 2007. She received her B.Eng. and M. Eng. degrees from Zhejiang University in 2005 and 2007.

In 2009 she became a member of executive committee in Chinese Union of Zurich (CUZ) and served as vice president, and she was elected as the Secretary General in 2011.

Fan Wu - Vice Secretary General

Fan Wu, Swiss attorney at law, was born in Hangzhou, China. She studied literature at the University of Leiden, Netherlands (MA, 1987-1992) and legal science at the University of Zurich (Lic. iur, 1994-2000). She has been registered in the Bar Register of the Canton of Zurich since 2005. She worked as an associate in a renowned law firm in Zurich and as a senior consultant of KPMG Zurich (2000-2002) serving Swiss SMEs making direct investments in China. She practices law at her own law office in Switzerland since 2007.

Her area of practice includes the structuring of international direct investments (e.g. the acquisition of or participation in European companies by Chinese investors) and business creation or relocation in Switzerland, corporate housekeeping and all other corporate, commercial, and contractual matters.

International technology agreements and international trade agreements lie in her field of expertise as well.

She also advises and represents clients in aliens law (attainment of entry visas, work, or residence permits).

Haiwen Ye - Project Manager

Dr. Haiwen Ye holds Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering and Ph.D degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1989, 1994 and 1997 respectively, major in Power Engineering & Control.

He was Assistant at the Instutute of Process Control during 1989-1991 and part-time associate manager of Graduate Division of Department of Thermal Engineering during 1992-1997, in Tsinghua University. During 1997-1999, he was Research Scientist (Post Doctorate) in Institute of Process Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich).

In 1999 he joined Alstom (Switzerland) Ltd, working as development engineering in Gas Turbine System Modelling and Simulation Group. Since 2001 he was appointed as Manager of this group. In 2008, he was appointed as Project Manager of Thermal Products, in charge of Turbomachines' Scope of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power Plant EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Projects. Since 2010, he has been Concepts Project Manager in Global Integration of Alstom Thermal Power Sector, in charge of strategic R&D projects.

Dr. Ye was President of Chinese Union of Zurich (CUZ) during 2003-2006. He is currently Project Manager of CUZ. He is a member of UBS Tennis Club, playing 2nd Liga in interclub; and he is General Coach of CTCZ Tennis Club (Chinese Tennis Club of Zurich).

Guanghai Gong- Project Manager

Guanghai Gong received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, China, in 1999 and 2002 respectively. From June 2002 to December 2007, he was a student at Power Electronic Systems Laboratory, ETH Zurich, where he received his Ph.D. degree. In January 2008, he joined ABB Switzerland as a development engineer in the Traction Converters department. Since March 2009, he became a technical project manager for high-power traction converters.

His research interests during his studies included hybrid power amplifiers, soft-switched dc-dc converters, and ac-dc converters for aircraft applications. Currently his focus is on the development of traction converters for rolling stock applications.

From 2002 to 2007, he was a student member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and in 2006 he received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad.

In the Chinese Union of Zurich (CUZ), he has been a member of executive committee as a project manager for liaison and propaganda since the founding of CUZ in 2003. He established the CUZ photography club in 2005 and served as the Secretary General from July 2006 to April 2007. In May 2007, he was elected as the President of CUZ, and in June 2009, he was re-elected for another two-year term. Currently he serves as a member of executive committee and an advisor of CUZ, and he is responsible for the organization and development of CUZ photo club.



Fabian Leuthold - Project Manager

Fabian Leuthold was born in Zurich, Switzerland and achieved the Teacher Diploma for Senior High School in Mathematics, Geography and Biology at University of Zurich. In addition he studied Computer Sience at „Hochschule für Technik Zürich“, where he developed a CMOS 6510 CPU Core as well as a Web Based Rubik's Cube solver, based on an A* algorithm. After achieving the bachelor in „Computer Sience“, he deepened his software-development experience in COMIT AG, Siemens Schweiz AG and OFWI AG. In futurelab AG he developed a color recognition server for a leading auction web-portal and started to lead software-projects. Today Mr. Leuthold is working in the international company Dun & Bradstreet as a Software Project Manager. In 2008 he started learning chinese and will soon attend the HSK level 3 test. Together with his chinese teacher, Hong Yuqin, he founded the Language- & Culture-Exchange Club within CUZ 3 years ago.

Tian Xia - Project Manager

Tian Xia was born in Tian Jin in 1978. He came to Switzerland in 2003. From 2003 to 2007 study German at SKK and NSH language school in Basel. From 2007 to 2008 study at the Basel school of Design Switzerland, Vorkurs. From 2008 to 2011 study at Institute HyperWerk, Academy of Art and Design, University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, special on document-film and exhibition. Since Sept. 2011 studying at Zurich University of the Arts, special on Curating & Museum Education. He is good at Chinese calligraphy, painting, film and videos make, photography, TCM.
